Just because it's raining outside doesn't mean you can't have fun! Berlin has a lot to offer visitors, even on a rainy day. From world-renowned museums to delicious food, there's something for everyone. Here is a quick list of the best things to do on a rainy day in Berlin.
Dive into Museums
Like any capital city there are many museums to choose from in Berlin. Have you checked out German History Museum (DHM in German), Museum Island, the Jewish Museum, and the Topography of Terror?
If so, then I highly suggest the Video Games Museum, Stasi Museum, and Disgusting Food Museum!
Snack at the KaDeWe
The KaDeWe or Kaufhaus des Westens (“Shopping Mall of the West”) was originally opened in 1907 in the booming and blooming of pre-War(s) Berlin. After the destruction of WWII and the construction of the Wall, the KaDaWe would have to wait until after the reunification to claim back some former glory.
Today it is an international department store with 60,000 square meters of high class shopping and on the 5th floor amazing dining. From oysters, to donuts, to fine coffee, to chocolate to steak, the KaDaWe has plenty to offer!
Go to a Movie Theater
I know what you are thinking: “See a movie?! I can do that at home!” And you would be correct if I weren’t suggesting some real Berlin movie theaters for you. Two things to keep in mind: Get ready to be a bit out of your element and on the website look for OmU Original mit Untertitel (Original movie language with German subtitles) or OV Original Version (no subtitles and no dubbing).
The latter is most important of course so that you can understand the film, otherwise there is a good chance you may be watching your movie dubbed in German!
